Code of Conduct
01
All company members will actively participate in the development of a nurturing creative environment. All members are committed to fostering excellence in their colleagues. Communications among company members are to be supportive, professional and collegial. Bullying, coercion or harassment are not acceptable.
03
Dispute resolution and any questions about policy/conduct/decisions are referred to the Company Coordinator and/or Artistic Director (hereby the Mediator). The Mediator will undertake to review the issue concerned and help to arrive at a resolution. Such a resolution is binding on all concerned.
05
Active members of the collective are to commit to the maintenance of their dance skills, and are encouraged to attend (in-person/virtual) general company rehearsal and/or technique class.
07
Projects that draw on Manohar resources (including rehearsal time and space) or that present Manohar compositions or choreography are considered company projects, and require authorization of the Company Coordinator or Artistic Director.
09
Company members are at liberty to maintain their affiliation with their individual gurus. They may also take dance/movement instruction outside of Manohar, or participate in projects outside the Manohar collective. In these situations they do not use the Manohar banner, and Manohar does not have responsibilities towards these projects.
11
Choreography created through collective participation in the Manohar creative space is the artistic and intellectual property of Manohar Performing Arts of Canada Inc., which retains copyright on behalf of the collective. Performance of this choreography is restricted to Manohar members or their students, and requires acknowledgment of Manohar. Choreography taught by other gurus, or created by Usha Sharma for Manohar or Jhankhaar, remains the intellectual property of that creator.
02
In a shared learning and creating atmosphere, the status of learners and teachers may keep changing. Hence the shared Code of Conduct emphasizes creative contribution over rigid hierarchy to engender mutual respect
04
Company members are welcome to invite other qualified dancers to join the Manohar group. Decisions about a dancer joining Manohar will be made by the Artistic Director and Company Coordinator, with the assistance of senior dancers.
06
Company members will work to build a shared repertoire. Participation in repertory performance is actively encouraged, both in Winnipeg and outside.
08
Manohar retains the copyright for all official videos and photographs, and reserves the right to use any of these images, in part or in full, in its publicity / promotions / advertising / digital presence.
10
Manohar’s productions require the full-scale cooperation of all involved dancers. Performance is dependent upon dancer availability, and may be determined by audition. Ultimate determination of dancer participation lies with the Artistic Director. In addition to performance, dancers may take on other creative or supportive roles.
